NHO joins as a partner in the ocean technology center C4IR Ocean. Together with Aker, Microsoft, the World Economic Forum and others, the goal is to collaborate to use data and new technology solutions, to ensure a healthier ocean.

C4IR Ocean, a collaboration between the Aker Group and the World Economic Forum (WEF), is part of WEF's Global Network for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR), which works to develop technology and digitalization for solving important societal tasks. The centre in Oslo is the first in the network dedicated to sustainability and the ocean.

"The ambition with C4IR Ocean is to establish a results-oriented cooperation arena for private and public actors with the capacity and competence to make a difference for a responsible management of the ocean. Together we must act quickly. We are very happy to have NHO on the team. To ensure sustainable solutions for the ocean, we are dependent on cooperating at a strategic level with the Norwegian business and industry community and in close dialogue with the authorities. NHO is a key in both contexts." - says Aker's President and CEO Øyvind Eriksen

Technology for the ocean creates the jobs of the future

Through Next move: NHO's roadmap for the business community of the future, new technology and ocean-related activities stand out as key for future value creation.

"Our partnership with C4IR Ocean gives us opportunities to become part of a network of leading, global technology companies with the sea as the focus area. C4IR Ocean can be a good support for our Road Map initiative, and I look forward to involving the entire NHO family in this collaboration in the future."- says CEO of NHO, Ole Erik Almlid

The largest and most inclusive hub for ocean data

C4IR Ocean's flagship project is the development of the Ocean Data Platform. This ocean data platform releases and makes available a wide range of data for researchers, decision makers and developers. In the last six months, data from 220,000 marine research expeditions since 1890 have been uploaded to the marine data platform based on Cognite Data Fusion technology. This allows data to be available in seconds instead of hours and days.

"We want to be the largest, most inclusive hub for computer-driven solutions for the ocean that help reduce emissions, plastic and overfishing. Then we need the biggest players on the team early. We are already working with several committed partners in industry, science, conservation and government, and are proud that NHO has chosen to work with us." -says CEO of C4IR Ocean, Bjørn Tore Markussen
