HUB Ocean at COP28!
We are super excited to welcome you to our event at COP28 in Dubai!
Reaching 100% Sustainable Ocean Management:
Using Ocean Data for Action!
On Dec 8 from 13.30 to 14.20 (GMT+4) at Indonesia´s country pavilion at #cop28 , we are diving into a sea of data and practical actions! (stream: https://lnkd.in/d2mE3thP)
HUB Ocean and Microsoft, with the support of Accenture, collaborate in leading the #OceanDataActionCoalition under the umbrella of High Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy.
Join us in tackling important and complex questions:
What is needed to improve #oceandata to accelerate countries’ ambitions towards sustainable ocean governance in the upcoming years? What data is needed to understand the human impacts on ocean ecosystems and sustainable ocean management? How can and must industry contribute to this?
Deputy Minister of Forestry and Environmental Management dr. Nani Hendiarti will provide insight on how the great ocean nation, #Indonesia, is working with #oceandata to reach its 2045 goals.
HUB Ocean´s CEO Kimberly Mathisen will showcase some practical examples of unprecedented collaboration across sectors – pivotal to healing the ocean. Managing Director Dr. Mauricio Bermudez Neubauer from Accenture Sustainability Services advises works closely with industries on their way to net zero, while Director Cynthia Barzuna from the Ocean Action 2030 Coalition at World Resources Institute plays a crucial role in supporting countries worldwide to develop and implement #Sustainable Ocean Plans. Melissa Garvey is The Nature Conservancy’s Global Director of Nature Bonds - a model that helps governments unlock funding for conservation.
The session will be eloquently moderated by David Eades, who has a deep interest in the ocean in addition to years of experience as News Anchor at the #bbc .
Data is at the cornerstone of effective ocean stewardship. But, the quest for perfect data must not delay action. We must act with what we have. And then build, learn, and integrate.
ODAC’s vision is a globally shared data revolution that will contribute to sustainable oceanmanagement worldwide. This will only be realized if the private sector, governments and researchers join forces.
Having worked diligently to raise awareness of why industries need to share ocean data, ODAC is now experiencing momentum. Let us take the next steps together.
