C4IR Ocean brings in Inge A. Sandvik, Chief Digital Officer from Wilhelmsen Group, as new C4IR Ocean's Chief Product Officer

Prior Chief Digital Officer in the Wilhelmsen Group joins the Centre for the 4th Industrial Revolution Ocean as Chief Product Officer, bringing 25 years of experience in large global enterprises and emerging and innovative tech start-ups.

After playing an instrumental role in accelerating digital transformation at the Wilhelmsen Group, Sandvik is ready to take part in building the most comprehensive digital platform for ocean data and C4IR Ocean’s flagship product, the Ocean Data Platform. The ground-breaking platform already counts with data from more than 220,000 marine research cruises since 1890. It reduces the time it takes to access this data from days and hours to seconds. More data will be uploaded from both open and closed sources in the coming months, including environmental impact, biodiversity, and industrial data.

Sandvik’s impressive career within tech and innovation has taken him to be a leader in companies like Opera Software, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Telenor, Oracle and PwC Consulting, as well as being CEO, Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Product Officer in innovative and fast-growing start-ups that developed products that have scaled globally.

“C4IR Ocean and its’ partners are committed to making a real impact on data-driven ocean solutions. We are glad that Inge chooses to join our journey and use his wealth of experience and network from both scaling tech start-ups and driving digital solutions at large industries to boost the journey ahead” – says Bjørn Tore Markussen, CEO C4IR Ocean.

Building a great product culture and data-driven customer obsession

C4IR Ocean aims to be the largest, most inviting hub for computer-driven solutions for the ocean that reduce emissions, plastic waste, and overfishing. We are not alone in this fight. To do this, it is needed to join forces with the most prominent and most influential players. C4IR Ocean is already working with a rapidly growing ecosystem of committed partners from industry, science, conservation and government.

“The reason for joining C4IR Ocean is that it ticks on all boxes of what I care about. It is all about solving important problems with technology, data, business model innovation and new ways of getting people to collaborate” – says Inge André Sandvik.

Sandvik’s passion for creating great products that solve complex and large problems is brightly reflected in his engagement as a mentor for entrepreneurs and numerous capital-backed and award-winning companies such as Soundrop, Mobile CTI, Numo, Tagiato, and Filmgrail. He is bringing the same passion to the C4IR Ocean to create solutions for our ocean:

“I have seen first-hand how important the ocean is for both people and communities I care about. It is exciting to join a team that is working on solving important problems that can make an impact on the world my children are going to grow up in”.

Inge André Sandvik commenced as CPO officially on the 1st of April 2021, opening what will be an exciting and brimming with news Q2 for C4IR Ocean.
